Proloquo2Go
AssistiveWare's Proloquo2Go gives students who can't rely on speech a genuinely capable voice: over 25,000 symbols, more than 100 natural-sounding voices, and a Crescendo vocabulary that keeps core words in consistent grid positions so motor planning actually builds over years, not resets every September. Bilingual vocabularies let a student communicate in more than one language without switching systems.
Keep the grid layout identical across every device a student touches, home included; consistency is the whole mechanism.
Clicker
Crick Software's Clicker separates the hard part of writing (getting ideas out) from the hard part of spelling, with talking word banks, picture-supported word prediction, and full switch and eye-gaze access. Built for dyslexia, autism, and multilingual learners, but the scaffolding helps far more of the class than just the students it was designed for.
Build a topic-specific word bank before a unit's writing task; it turns a blank page into a word bank a student can point at.
