Privacy Policy

The short version
Edibok is a directory, not a data business. We don't run ads, we don't sell data, and we don't track you around the web. The only personal information involved is what you give us directly: your email if you sign up for new app updates, your details if your team asks about a Classroom Readiness Review, or whatever you include when you tell us about an app worth listing.
Information we collect
Accounts. Edibok no longer offers sign in. If you created an account in the past, it was handled by Netlify Identity, our former authentication provider, which stored your name, email address, and a hashed version of your password. Edibok never saw or stored your password in plain text. Email us and we will delete that account.
Newsletter signup. The "New apps, straight to your inbox" box on the homepage, and the matching sign up box elsewhere on the site, collect your email address so we can send occasional updates about new listings, at most a few times per term. The address is stored in Netlify Forms, the form service built into our host, along with the date and which box you used. We keep it until you ask to be removed, which you can do at any time by emailing us.
Classroom Readiness Review inquiries. The inquiry form in the "For EdTech teams" section collects your name, work email, product link, and the note you write. It is stored in Netlify Forms so we can reply. We use it only to discuss the review you asked about, keep it only as long as it is useful for that conversation and our basic business records, and delete it sooner if you ask. Please do not include student information or anything confidential.
App submissions. The "Submit an app" form opens your own email application with the app name, link, and your notes prefilled, and sends directly from your device to our inbox. Submissions are not stored on Edibok's site; they arrive the same way any email would.
Automatic hosting data. Like any website, our host (Netlify) automatically logs standard technical information, such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps, for security and reliability. We don't use this for tracking or advertising.
How we use it
- To reply to a Classroom Readiness Review inquiry.
- To send the newsletter you signed up for, and nothing else.
- To follow up on an app submission if we have questions.
- To keep the site secure and working.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not run advertising trackers on Edibok. We do use one analytics tool, described below, to understand which pages are useful.
Analytics
Edibok uses Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where in the world they are. This tells us which parts of the site are worth expanding and which are not being read. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and sends Google an abbreviated version of your IP address along with the pages you view. We do not send it your name, your email address, or anything you type into the site, and we do not use it for advertising. If you would rather not be counted, most browsers let you block cookies for a site, and Google publishes an opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Cookies and local storage
Edibok saves a few preferences directly in your own browser's local storage — your light/dark theme choice, your view preference, and your "My Stack" shortlist of saved apps. None of this is transmitted to our servers; it lives only on your device and you can clear it anytime by clearing your browser's site data. Google Analytics sets its own cookies, as described above.
Third-party services
Edibok links out to third-party educational apps we list. Once you leave edibok.com and visit one of those apps, that app's own privacy policy applies — we're not responsible for how third parties handle your data. We use Netlify for hosting, for the newsletter and inquiry forms (Netlify Forms), and formerly for accounts (Netlify Identity); Resend, which delivered account emails such as password resets while accounts existed; and Google Analytics as described above. Each acts as our service provider and is bound to reasonable data-protection practices as part of that role. App icons shown in the index are fetched by our host from each app maker's own site and served to you from edibok.com, so your browser does not request them from a third party. If that fetch fails for a particular icon, your browser falls back to requesting it directly from the app maker's site or its icon provider.
Children's privacy
Edibok is built for K-12 educators, not for direct use by students, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you're a parent or district administrator and believe a child's information has ended up in our systems, email us and we'll remove it promptly.
Your choices
You can ask us, at any time, to see what information we have about you, correct it, or delete it, including any newsletter signup, inquiry, or past account. Just email us; we're a small, independently run site, so you'll hear back from an actual person.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top. Continuing to use Edibok after a change means you accept the updated policy.
